CIPD Student Stories: Kim Buckley | Level 5 Review

Kim speaks more about completing her Level 5 CIPD in People Management as a busy mum, returning to work post maternity leave.

I am currently a Health and Wellbeing Coordinator across a network of youth charities and studying towards my Level 5 CIPD in People Management.

A long time since I've completed any kind of course or qualification and only back at work for 9 months post maternity leave, to say I was nervous to enrol on the Level 5 CIPD course was an understatement.

Nervous to try something new, in an uncertain landscape, as well as being nervous at the thought of juggling motherhood, work and study, it took me a while to pluck up the courage and go for it, however in the end I'm so glad I did.

I quickly realised that the pressure was only coming from myself and that the fear of not achieving something was a silly reason not to try. Having done my research,

I was particularly interested in studying this course with ICS Learn due to the flexibility it allowed, and the ability to work to your own timelines which as a mum, was something that I was specifically looking for.

The CIPD Level 5 course itself is simple in its format which is great as studying feels uncomplicated, smooth and straightforward.

The level of online support is vast and is presented in lots of different formats meaning that you are fully supported throughout your studies, no matter your learning style or abilities.

One of my favourite things about studying with ICS Learn so far is that you feel as though you are in control of your own learning and that there is no pressure to complete the course under numerous unachievable deadlines.

Being able to access the course anywhere and everywhere (with WIFI) has been particularly helpful as it means I'm able to fit my studies in throughout my days.

I specifically find the student community to be interesting and helpful, fostering a safe and helpful environment, similar to the one that you would get with any institutional education.

The forums are also massively helpful in answering or asking the questions you thought only you had pondered and it’s just great to know that there are others out there doing what you are doing, alongside trying to keep on top of day-to-day stuff!

So far I'm really enjoying my learnings and would recommend completing a course with ICS Learn to anyone. If you are on the fence and looking for a sign to go for it, this is it!
